Refund and Returns Policy

At Dante Alighieri of Winnipeg, we are committed to providing a welcoming, enjoyable, and high-quality Italian language learning experience for students of all ages.
We understand that circumstances may change and that students or parents may occasionally need to cancel or modify their registration. This Refund and Returns Policy explains the conditions under which cancellations, refunds, transfers, and returns may be requested.
We encourage all students and families to review this policy carefully before completing their registration.
1. Course Registration and Payments
Registration for our Italian language programs is subject to course availability and confirmation by Dante Alighieri of Winnipeg.
Tuition fees and applicable payment schedules are provided during the registration process. Some programs may offer installment payment options.
By registering for a course, students or their parents or guardians acknowledge the applicable registration terms and payment obligations.
2. Cancellation Before Classes Begin
If you need to cancel your registration before your course begins, please notify the school in writing at dante@dantewinnipeg.com.
All cancellations are subject to applicable consumer protection legislation, including any mandatory cancellation and refund rights.
3. Refunds After Classes Have Started
Once a course has commenced, the following proposed conditions apply:

Within the first two scheduled classes: Students may request a prorated refund for the remaining, unused portion of their tuition.

After the second scheduled class: Tuition fees are generally non-refundable, except where required by law or approved by school administration due to exceptional circumstances.

Missed classes: Refunds are not normally provided for individual classes missed because of personal scheduling conflicts, vacations, absences, or other circumstances unrelated to the school.
Submitting a cancellation request does not automatically eliminate any outstanding payment obligations. Any remaining balance will be handled according to the applicable registration agreement and consumer protection laws.
4. Course Cancellation or Changes by the School
Dante Alighieri of Winnipeg reserves the right to modify, reschedule, combine, or cancel classes when necessary due to insufficient enrollment, instructor availability, or other unforeseen circumstances.
If the school cancels an entire course before it begins, registered students will be offered:

A full refund of tuition paid; or
-
The option to transfer to another available course, where suitable.
If a course is discontinued after it has started, students will be eligible for a refund of the unused portion of tuition, or an appropriate alternative arrangement.
For individual classes that must be rescheduled, the school will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative class date or other appropriate accommodation.
5. Course Transfers
Students wishing to change their course or learning level should contact the school as soon as possible.
Transfers may be permitted based on class availability, appropriate learning level, and approval by school administration.
Any difference in tuition fees may be charged or refunded as applicable. Transfers are not guaranteed.
6. Textbooks and Educational Materials
Certain programs include textbooks, workbooks, or other educational materials as part of the registration fee.
Where a tuition refund is approved, the school may require unused physical educational materials to be returned in good condition.
If materials have been used, damaged, or cannot reasonably be returned, their disclosed replacement cost may be deducted from an otherwise eligible refund, where permitted by law.
If a textbook or educational item has been purchased separately and is defective, damaged upon receipt, or incorrect, please contact the school within 14 days of receiving it so the matter can be reviewed.
7. Exceptional Circumstances
We recognize that unexpected situations can arise, including serious illness, family emergencies, or other significant personal circumstances.
Students and families experiencing exceptional circumstances are encouraged to contact school administration.
Requests will be reviewed individually, and the school may offer an appropriate refund, tuition credit, or other accommodation at its discretion, subject to applicable law.
Supporting documentation may be requested where reasonably necessary.
8. Refund Processing
Approved refunds will normally be issued to the original payment method used during registration.
We aim to process approved refunds within 10 business days. Additional processing time may be required by your bank or payment provider before the funds appear in your account.
Refund amounts will be calculated according to the applicable policy, course participation, and any statutory refund requirements.
9. How to Request a Refund

Our administration team will review your request and respond with the applicable next steps.
10. Consumer Rights and Policy Updates
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any cancellation, refund, or other consumer rights provided under applicable Manitoba or Canadian law.
Dante Alighieri of Winnipeg may update this policy periodically to reflect changes in its programs, administrative procedures, or legal requirements. The applicable version will be the version in effect when the student registers, unless otherwise required by law or agreed upon by the parties.
